I grew up in a one-horse town - population 120. As a child I always heard people saying, “You’re nothing but trouble!” That stuck with me. When I was 13, I bought my first guitar. I became so absorbed in making music and playing in bands, they finally kicked me out of school. At the tender age of 7, I heard Johnny Cash for the first time. After some dabbling in punk and folk I came back to country and rockabilly in my twenties. Hank Williams, Johnny Horton, Marty Robbins, Elvis Presley and Kris Kristofferson are my heroes. But blues, punk and folk still gets me. Furry Lewis, Fred McDowell, Howling Wolf, Muddy Waters, Bob Dylan, Sex Pistols - all great artists. After my father died I struggled around with different jobs, trying to make a living. Landscaper, carpenter, removals and so on, but I always wanted to be a professional musician. In 2002 I met Tall Tony and his double bass… 2 weeks later, blues harp player White Dynamite joined us. I just wanted to work out a couple of songs with these guys and was looking for a room to practice. But they persuaded me to play on street corners… So here we were, busking almost every day and we made good money with it. The problem was that we spend all the money on booze in clubs and pubs. Around 2004 Felix Berchtold joined the band. First he only played the rhythm chords and I was the electric guitar player. Two years later Felix‘ guitar playing outstripped mine, so we changed instruments. That gave me the opportunity to concentrate on singing and songwriting. For years we changed drummers like underwear. White Dynamite dropped out of the band. In 2006 Wendl Längle joined the band with his steel guitar and one year later our first album, “The Rhythm Of The Railroad track”, came out. The first 6 songs were self-penned; I had written them in two weeks. The rest of the album consisted of cover songs that we found in Wendl’s vinyl collection. We recorded the album in my living room with just one microphone. Shortly after I released the solo album “Starring As Rambling Man”. Around 2008 we played a couple of shows in Switzerland. We were doing the encore and Pistolero Pepe joined us on stage with just a snare drum. I always loved the sound of a snare and begged him to be a steady member of the band. I wrote a couple of new songs and we made the album “Rainy Days” with him. More and more requests from Spain, Italy, France, Switzerland, Austria, Holland, Belgium, Norway, Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, even Russia kept us on the road all over Europe. Around this time Felix married and moved out of my house. We turned the empty rooms into a recording studio named Running Gun Recordings. After private disasters I got in touch with the British photographer Joe Kelly. We became good friends – with Joe writing lyrics and providing photos, and me providing music. The result was the album “That’s Love”. We released a 7“ as well (Prison Bound/Lonesome Guitar). What you now hold in your hands is my first full length vinyl LP. Most of tthese hand-picked songs are re-recorded to suit the vinyl format for your listening pleasure. The record premiers a brand new song called “The Johnny Trouble Theme”. Finally making a real vinyl record is actually the result of a bet - but that’s another story. For the future, I am very excited to see you folks on the road-whenever Trouble comes to town. And the band is ecstatic about an upcoming tour that takes us to the USA and Mexico this year!
